Jenny Johnston RTC, MA (Candidate 2017)
Jenny is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (#1045) located in the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Tsleil-Waututh, and Skwxwú7mesh Territory, Vancouver B.C. She is currently undertaking a Masters of Narrative Therapy and Community Work with The University of Melbourne, Australia. For the past 3 years she has been working as an RTC supporting individuals experiencing mental health and addiction struggles as well as privileging the voices of women survivors of abuse. She has been working and volunteering in the community-based social services field since 1996. Some of these communities include: people of DTES Vancouver, North End of Winnipeg, Youth and Kids in the foster system, women survivors of abuse, English as a Second Language, and folks of the LGBTQ community.
Prior to her Masters work, she graduated from the Vancouver College of Counsellor Training with a Diploma in Professional Counselling as well as from CMU in Winnipeg, with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a concentration in International and Community Development and Peace and Conflict Transformation studies. Further, she is a TESOL certified English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher.
She is passionate about listening to individual and group stories, supporting belonging, building bridges of understanding and she is committed to supporting folks who are subjected to social injustices.
